In July 2023, the Winnie Watson Foundation partnered with the Millcreek Arts Council, Canyon Rim Cares, and dozens of community volunteers to paint a mural at Canyon Rim Park in honor of Winnie. As a talented and enthusiastic artist, Winnie loved creating art, using bright colors, and taking up every inch of available space. The mural is bright and colorful and welcoming to all who enter the park. At this event we also had children create art pieces that were used for a utility box wrap at Canyon Rim Park. These projects align with our mission by creating opportunities for art and creative expression for children. The park is a brighter and happier place by having artwork inspired by Winnie there.
In October 2023, the Winnie Watson Foundation raised funds for a donation to the Hogle Zoo for their childhood education initiatives and took part in the Zoo’s Dia de los Muertos event and displayed Winnie’s photograph on their ofrenda.
In November 2023, the Winnie Watson Foundation raised funds for a donation to support preschool tuition assistance at the Sammy Center, a Millcreek non-profit preschool. Winnie loved attending preschool, and the Winnie Watson foundation seeks to make early childhood education accessible. We also designed and painted a bench to be used at the Sammy Center’s playground. We painted the bench in the style of Winnie’s artwork. It is a colorful and welcome addition to their school.
In July 2024, the Winnie Watson Foundation partnered with the Foundation for Hospital Art, Canyon Rim Cares, and community volunteers to paint murals that were donated to Primary Children’s Hospital Lehi campus. These colorful murals were designed to help soften the often stressful hospital experience and bring peace and hope to people receiving hospital care.
The Winnie Watson Foundation regularly raises funds for donations of school supplies and books for local elementary schools.
